Recognition reinforces the region’s position as a top destination for advanced industry and highvalue job creation.

Brownsville has secured the #2 spot in the nation for lowest manufacturing operating costs, according to Site Selection magazine’s Inflation Busters report (July 2025 issue). This ranking underscores what many industry leaders already know: Brownsville is one of the most cost-competitive locations in the United States for manufacturers to establish and grow their operations.

“This recognition validates the work we’re doing to position Brownsville as a hub for manufacturing and industrial growth,” said Gilberto Salinas, President & CEO of the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC). “By combining our cost advantages with a skilled workforce, and strong infrastructure, we’re creating the ideal environment for companies to invest, grow, and create high-paying jobs for our community.”

With its strategic location, proximity to the Port of Brownsville, and focus on advanced manufacturing and industrial development, Brownsville is becoming a prime destination for global companies. GBIC continues to work closely with manufacturers and site selectors to streamline the process of relocation and expansion—ensuring a seamless entry to market.

“Brownsville’s cost-competitive environment gives manufacturers the confidence to invest and succeed here,” added Salinas. “Our focus remains clear: attract leading companies and help them create opportunities for our community.”

From the expansion of Linde in GBIC’s North Brownsville Industrial Park to the growing industrial footprint supported by major infrastructure projects, the region is gaining the attention of manufacturers nationwide. This recognition as one of the top manufacturing markets further accelerates Brownsville’s position as a key player in the nation’s industrial economy
